Stylist Eva Lindh: christmas inspiration

This traditional scandinavian christmas styling by Swedish stylist Eva Lindh make me think of my childhood home at christmas time. Red, green and wood tones, that were our christmas colors.
Do you have some certain christmas colors you come back to every year?

Trine Thorsen: winter inspiration

We have wonderful winter weather, it's so cold, -10 °C, really something for Berlin. And there is still some snow on the ground. The Germans aren't really used to this kind of weather, at least here in the city. But I enjoy it. I found these suitable winter images in Trine Thorsen's inspiring portfolio. You can find a frost set and some serene white interiors. Enjoy!

Winter mood by photographer Morten Holtum

I'm sorry for my absence lately. These are just some busy days and sometimes it's hard to include blogging into my daily routine. Anyway, now I'm back to share these images by Danish photographer Morten Holtum with you. Aren't they beautiful? They make me want to curl up at a fire place on a cold winter evening.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my last post! All of them made me feel so good. I'm so happy you enjoy reading Visual Notes. It means a lot to me.

Inspiring workspaces

I hope you have a good weekend. I'm spending lot's of time at my desk working for university right now. I think it's important to create a space where you feel at home, so that working there is comfortable.

This is actually a workspace for children from the Swedish Elle Interiör. But it works also for grown ups with a love for color and humor. Found via Remodelista.

These huge windows are so great, all this light floating in. The light is really something I'm missing this time of year. Images from: Trine Thorsen, James Merrell, Marie Claire Maison.

And in these two I adore the black elements. And of course I love the R's in the window. Image above from the Danish online shop Nordhjem, image below from Marie Claire Maison.

Transformation on a budget

I enjoyed the New York Times article about a Loft-transformation for $5,000, that I found via Darling Dexter. It became such an inviting place, sunny and serene.

I really like how they divided the living space from a new bedroom area with the Ikea Expedit shelf. See more images, before and after's and get more information about the costs and furniture right here.

Displaying art

Speaking about the art displays in the last post I thought I'd show you some more images that inspire me very much.
These images of art walls appeal to me because of their colorful and creative combinations of art pieces and small objects. I love it, to discover the details and when a display makes me smile.

Mixing and matching different styles, frames and colors. From the portfolio of photographer Hallie Burton.

This beautiful wall with flower themed paintings and postcards is from Kristine Meyer's (Meyer-Lavigne) home.

And this display with black details is from Sköna hem.

Photographer Pernille Enoch

Today I want to introduce you to the work of Danish photographer Pernille Enoch which I found via the always inspiring Creative Activity.

These interiors look so inviting, stylish and relaxed at the same time. I feel so drawn to the mix of styles, design objects combined with simple IKEA and thrifted furniture. And I adore all the art groupings on the walls. Also typography used as interior decoration is something I really never get tired of.
What about you, what are you feeling drawn to lately?

Please visit Pernille Enoch's website for more inspiration.

Rom 123: black and white + a splash of color

Here comes some interior inspiration for you from Norwegian interior magazine rom123. This is a home on only 40 sqm. A lot of neat space saving ideas are needed. And although the black and white plus a little color wouldn't be anything for my home (I need more color :) ), it sure inspires me everytime. It looks so fresh and it really suits this small apartment, it makes the space look tidy and organized.
Go here for more images and the article (for those of you who understand Norwegian).

Colorful home in Sweden

It seems, that I'm quite into Swedish things after I came back from Stockholm. No wonder, there is so much good design and beauty to discover.
This home of Swedish graphic designer Helena Schaeder Söderberg and her family I found while browsing flickr.
After some googling I found out that Holly Becker interviewed Helena a while back for cookie magazine, with some great answers from Helena.
So let's go and visit her home:

What a nice idea to paint the entrance door with blackboard paint!

The rooms of Helena's two daughters are so colorful.

And what a beautiful bedroom, I really like the pale blue. See more photos of Helena's home in her flickr sets.

Blog find: Dos Family

The Swedish blog Dos Family is the collaboration of photographer Jenny Brandt and designer Isabelle Halling McAllister. (Found via Fine little day)
One very inspiring feature on their blog is called Dos Visits, a collection of real swedish homes, that Jenny has photographed. A source of so much eyecandy: inspiring, eclectic homes filled with vintage finds and colors. I could browse them for hours.
Have a good start into the new week!

Summer Cottage, Chicago Home + Garden

I was so charmed by this cute little cottage with a great story behind it, when I read about it on Apartment Therapy.
Tereasa Surratt and her husband restored and renovated this cabin after moving it hundreds of miles from Central Illinois to Wisconsin. And I found out Tereasa is publishing a book about the whole process of rescuing the cottage. It will be available in 2010, for more information check out her website. Read the article "Lake Effect" on the Chicago Home + Garden website. And see more detailed images here.
This place makes me want to start my holiday right away. What about you?

Hus & Hem magazine

Look what a beautiful home I found on the website of Swedish interior magazine Hus & Hem.
The Swedes have so many inspiring interior magazines. I'm so happy that we are travelling to Stockholm this summer! One destination will definitely be a newspaper store.
Some time ago Holly from Decor8 posted a nice gathering of images she found on Hus & Hem. And don't miss to check out the Hus & Hem website for so much more to discover!

Hyggelig: typographic wall decoration

Berlin based Catherine (I'm a regular reader of her lovely blog Hyggelig) likes to decorate her home with letters. Her newest addition is this "Hug Me" in her bedroom, such a nice idea to attach them vertically to the wall. The letters are vintage cinema letters Catherine bought at the german online shop Freundts that I wrote about before. Find their cinema letters right here.

And here is a peek into Catherine's dining room with a huge C on the wall, also from Freundts. I like all the red details in both rooms and the cute lamps above the dining table.

Photographer Trine Thorsen

Trine Thorsen is one of my favorite interior photographers. Her portfolio is filled with so many beautiful images! I mentioned my love for purple tones in the last post and here these colors appear again. Combined with green and other colorful splashes it looks so beautiful, don't you think? And because I'm a collector of all kind of decorative things, I'm always happy to see homes with a lot of details to discover.
See more images of this beautiful home and a lot of more eye-candy in Trine Thorsen's portfolio.
