Julia Rothman: wallpaper and prints

I'm a huge fan of Julia Rothman's work, I'm sure the most of you might know her patterns and illustrations.
Recently I found this new to me wallpaper that Julia designed for WallCollection, it's really darling and I thought I'd share it with you.

And these are two letterpress prints by Julia, available at Little Paper Planes for $25 for each, or $40 for both.
Make sure to have a look at Julia's portfolio if it's new to you.

News from Marimekko

Marimekko has launched a new tableware line called Oiva, designed by Sami Ruotsalainen and decorated with the patterns Siirtolapuutarha and Räsymatto by the talented Maija Louekari. The cute patterns are also available as fabrics.

I think they will be added right to my christmas wishlist.

And some other news:
We are celebrating a huge anniversary here in Berlin: 20 Years since the Fall of the Berlin Wall. I was a little child when it happened but nevertheless it's very moving. I can't imagine what it would have been like to grow up in a city encircled by a wall.
I hope you had a good start into the week.

New print by Elisabeth Dunker

And she did it again. It seems that everything that Elisabeth Dunker of Fine Little Day gets in her hands turns to gold.
Her new print is inspired by vintage embroidery, ornamental folk art and modern pixel graphics. The details are too good. See the pooping cat? :D
You can pick up the print in her online shop for $35.

Little peek

You might have wondered why it has been so silent here on my blog lately. I've been so busy doing things for my university. Christine asked me about my studies. So I thought I'd show you a little peek into my illustration work I've been doing this semester. (Click on the images to see them bigger) These illustrations were originally inspired by the lyrics to the song "Promises like piecrust" by Carla Bruni.
Now my vacation started. And next week we are flying to Stockholm. It's a strange but good feeling to suddenly have so much free time. I hope you have a good time, too!

What a surprise to find the Etsy shop Lineanongrata by illustrator Julia Freund! I was already familiar with her online portfolio and was so happy to see that she also sells her beautiful work as prints, postcards and pins.
German born Julia studied graphic design in Paris. Now she lives with her boyfriend on a winery in Gabian, South France. Wow! That sure is a really inspiring surrounding.
And she also writes a blog that is worth checking!

Posters from Bubbo Tubbo

I just found these bright typografic posters by Russian born, USA based Natasha Mileshina aka Bubbo Tubbo. I have known her poetic illustrations and calligraphy, these posters are different but as appealing as everything else of her work. Find these posters and many more treats in Natasha's Etsy shop Things by Bubbo Tubbo.
The design for the poster We Make Sense is part of the great Free Encouragement project which was organized by Design For Mankind and Booooooom. Works from all over the world were chosen for postcard sets that are available in the Free Encouragement Etsy shop.
Have a good start into the next week!

Circus Violet

Studio Violet (the joint venture of Camilla Engman and Elisabeth Dunker) has launched a new collection called Circus Violet. As always their work is playful and gorgeous. The new collection includes re-used porcelain for a show in Karin Eriksson gallery, prints, stamps and black drop decals that I've been adoring since I've seen them the first time on Elisabeth Dunker's kitchen wall.
See more of this collection on Studio Violet homepage, for purchasing visit the Studio Violet shop.

Essimar

I wish you a happy easter!
Isn't this bunny gorgeous? It's named Otto and it's made by Esther aka Essimar. You may know her and her work already but I thought her bunny would fit the easter theme perfectly.

Essimar is one of my favorite Etsy sellers - she has such a talent to make these pieces, cut and printed all by hand. I'm in love with the colors she uses and her graphic and abstract screenprints. If you don't know Essimar yet don't miss her Etsy shop where she lines a lot of her beautiful paper work. I've also enjoyed following her working process and inspirations on her blog and flickr
Products shown: Otto Conejo (shown above), Piso de Bano print, Tlin screenprint with graphite, Shilpa Fig mini print, Concha Panda Bear
Enjoy the good weather and the holidays!

P.S. A huge thank you to Kim and Jo from Desire To Inspire for mentioning me in your Easter reading guide and welcome to all of you who found your way here through Desire to Inspire.

Fox print by Hanna Konola

I posted about Hanna Konola in December. Now she updated her Etsy shop with this fox print. It is called "taikakettu", what means magic fox in english. Lovely name for a lovely print!

Jenni Rope

Here is another great finnish artist and illustrator. I love Hanna Konola's collages and her way of humour. Her book "mitä teet viikonloppuna" ("Any plans for the weekend?") would do a great present for a dear friend. I have it myself and I like it so much.
See more of her work on her website, and on Napa Illustrations Agency. Jenni runs also the publishing house Napa Books, and Napa shop & gallery. When you are in Helsinki check it out!

Hanna Konola

I'm interested in everything, that comes from Finland, because my roots are partly finnish. But that's not the only reason, why I like the work of the finnish illustrator Hanna Konola. She has such a nice and simple style.
Look at her advent calendar, where she is posting a drawing a day until christmas. What a fun idea! She has a blog, too.

Nick Butcher

I really like the work of Nick Butcher from Chicago, USA. The poster in my kitchen is made by him. His work is so subtle and I love how he is using color. The colorcombinations are stunning. You can buy the hand-screenprinted posters in his webshop.
The first one shown here Nick actually made in collaboration with Nadine Nakanishi.

And following some of his paintings, you can find more very inspiring paintings on his website.
